Students learn basic concept and methods of statistical analysis.
Using the statistical package SPSS, they learn the following methods:
crosstabulation, comparison between means,
and statistical estimation of sampling error.

Papers choosed by students are critisized from the four viewpoints:
(a) logics,
(b) structure,
(c) tables and figures, and
(d) key concepts.

Contents:
Papers on contemporary Japanese culture are critisized from the four viewpoints:
(a) logics,
(b) structure,
(c) tables and figures, and
(d) key concepts.

The goal of this class is to learn
(1) how to search and get papers,
(2) how to read papers, and
(3) visual presentation skills.

Students learn basic concept and methods of multivariate statistical analysis.
Using the statistical package SPSS, they learn factor analysis and regression analysis.

Contents: (1) Theory of gender stratification,
the sexual division of labor, and occupational segregation.
(2) Trends in Japanese gender stratification.
